Research Interest

My Doctoral research consisted of understanding neural coding and redundancy reduction in neural signals transmitted by the retinal spiking neurons. This involved designing and simulating convolutional neural networks for image processing.
During my post-doc, I have studied and designed population models to emulate biological signals to emulate markers in Parkinsons's and Alzheimer's diseases. Subsequently, I have used SpiNNaker neuromorphic hardware to design spiking neural networks to emulate sleep-wakefulness transition. More recently, I have designed a Basal Ganglia Circuit of action-selection on the SpiNNaker machine
Besides continuing on the above-mentioned lines, currently, I am also interested in applying traditional Machine Learning algorithms to Neuro-inspired models with the goal of designing and building machines capable of making crucial decisions in bespoke situations.
