About Me:
I am an Assistant Professor of English and Communication Skills, Department of Languages, BITS, Pilani. I believe that ‘to teach is to learn twice’. I opt for an interactive teaching style that encourages student participation and enthusiasm while facilitating learning for both. I do like meeting young minds and get inspired with their passion and energy they exhibit at whatever they do. I develop syllabi for new courses, and teaching models and strategies to facilitate need based learning.
I received a First class Master’s in English Literature, M Phil in ELT from School of Studies in English, Ujjain and a Doctorate in Advertising Communication from Devi Ahilya University, Indore. My interest in media studies helped me complete a degree programme in Journalism and Mass Communication. With over 12 years of teaching experience, I involve in project development and research activities and publish articles regularly in national and international journals. My research interests include Applied Linguistics, Advertising Communication, Media & Culture, and Sociolinguistics. I conduct training programmes on professional communication and HR topics (media related) for faculty members, business executives and engineers of companies/institutes. I also worked independently on a UGC MRP entitled Writing Competence: An Assessment of Tribal Students. I also delivered radio talks on All India Radio on various educational issues.
My passion to venture unexplored gave me a stint to serve the India Air Force where I imparted training on Technical English and Personality Development and did counseling to young aircraftsmen. I am a sports buff and played Tennis at national level.
