P.K. Sahoo earned his Ph.D. degree in Mathematics from Sambalpur University, Sambalpur, India in January 2004. Presently, he is working as Professor and Head of the Department of Mathematics, BITS-Pilani, Hyderabad Campus, Hyderabad, India. He has awarded Transilvania Fellowship in March 2023 and joined as Visiting Professor at the Faculty of Mathematics & Computer Science, Transilvania University of Brasov, Romania during 23rd May to 22nd July 2023. He is a Fellow of Institute of Mathematics & its Applications (FIMA), London, Fellow of Royal Astronomical Society (FRAS) London and also a Foreign member of Russian Gravitational Society. He has ranked among 2% Top Scientists from India in the area of Nuclear & Particle Physics as reported by Stanford University on 8 Oct 2020,  19 Oct 2021,  10 Oct 2022 and 4 Oct 2023. He is an Associate member of IUCAA, Pune. He is Editor of International Journal of Geometric Methods in Modern Physics (A World Scientific journal having Impact Factor 1.8), Associate Editor of Frontiers in Astronomy and Space Sciences (A Q2 journal having Impact Factor 3.0) and Topic Editorial Board Member of Universe (A Q2 journal having Impact Factor 2.9).  His research areas include theoretical cosmological models in modified theories of gravity. He has guided five Ph. D. scholars and currently twelve scholars are working for doctorate program under his guidance. His publication exceeds more than 200 research articles in peer reviewed journals including Astronomy & Astrophysics (A&A), MNRAS, Physical Review D, Physics Letters B, Journal of Cosmology and Astroparticle Physics (JCAP), Physics of the Dark Universe, European Physical Journal C, Classical Quantum Gravity, Annalen der Physik, International Journal of Modern Physics D, European Physical Journal Plus, Results in Physics, Fortschritte der Physik etc.
