  • PEARL 2016

    Pearl ’16 the annual National Cultural Festival of BITS, Pilani Hyderabad campus was inaugurated on 17 March by Shri Prasad Devineni, Producer of the blockbuster movie Bahubali and Shri Sudhakar Komakula the talented actor. Both the esteemed guests had pursued their technical courses before achieving fame in the field of entertainment, and their advice to “Dream big and work hard to achieve those dreams” struck a chord with the audience. The event was also graced by Prof. G. Sundar, Director (Off-Campus Programmes and Industry Engagement), and Prof M. B. Srinivas, Dean, Administration.  Pearl has entered 6th edition with a theme of “Live Evil” The opening ceremony concluded with the Fest Organizing Body officially declaring Peal 2016 open. This was followed by all the clubs showcasing their talent in enthralling performances.
     
    The hype and efforts leading up to Pearl'16 are reliable precursors that the fest will be bigger and better than its predecessors. With pro-shows such as Thaikkudam Bridge, Nucleya, Indian Jam Project and Abish Mathew over a span of 3 days alongside the main crowd puller event Farhan Live, featuring the multi-talented celebrity Farhan Akhtar, this Pearl is expected to attract a staggering footfall of 7000 people.

  • Matribhasha Diwas

    BITS Pilani, Hyderabad Campus celebrated Matribhasha Diwas (Mother language Day)  on March 3, 2016. Regional associations like Brundaavanam Telugu Samiti, Gitanjali Bengali Association, Maharashtra Mandal, Baithak, Sangam, Gujarati Association and Utkal Samaj - each comprising students from a particular linguistic community, reflected on the glory of their respective languages and cultures. They presented posters and made PPT presentations detailing the origin, evolution and the current state of the language, eminent personalities from different fields who contributed to the growth of the language, famous texts, places of linguistic significance etc. 
     
    Professor V. S. Rao, the acting Vice-Chancellor of the Institution and the Director of the Campus, inaugurated the proceedings by lighting a lamp. The posters and presentations were assessed by a group of faculty members from the Campus. While Brundaavanam, the Telugu students’ club, was awarded the first prize for its beautiful and sensible display, Baithak and Sangam, the two clubs representing Punjabi-Urdu-Hindi and Hindi student population respectively, won the second and the third prize. The celebration was a true representation of the linguistic and cultural diversity of India.

  • ARENA - 2016

    ARENA, the annual sports festival of BITS-Pilani Hyderabad campus was formally inaugurated on 28 January 2016 by Dr Tripuraneni Hanuman Chowdary, The former IT Advisor to Government of Andhra Pradesh.  Acting Vice-Chancellor Prof. V S Rao presided over the function.  ARENA was launched to bring out the sporting spirit in students from different parts of the country, and to create an opportunity for them to take part in various sporting disciplines, over a period of three days.  Arena’16 will see over 3000 participants from all across the nation participating in many indoor and outdoor sports events, held for both boys and girls.  The fest will offer a comprehensive entertainment and sportive atmosphere in campus during ARENA’16.
